| About Talk Show Hosts |
"It seems like a lifetime ago... 3 novice musicians entered a dark bedroom made a racket and recorded it. A month or two later a 4th member was added and the band begun. In the beginning more songs were discarded than kept and things looked bleak. Then a turning point. You Shall Know Us was the bands true conception a rock maniphesto for everything in which they believed, scrappy as hell but full of life. The band settled on the name Katharsis and for 1 and a half years honed their sound.
Since then they've played some great gigs including the unsigned bands tent at Reading 2005 and one memorable afternoon in front of 8000 people at the East Finchley festival, needless to say they were invited to play in 2006 without an audition, they were on to something. Each member of the band brought something special to the bands aesthetic performances. Something that gave them more than an image, more an anti-image each member was completely different but at the same time they all clung to each other, like any true band should. Jack Layzell with his bass lines that refuse to stay hidden brings his visceral love of performing and pure musicality, Matthew Biggs (drums) brought a primal aggression and understated cool, Matthew Niner (lead guitar and backing vocals) brought an awkward shyness with a sense of style and in Mark Robinson (Lead Vocals and Guitar) they possess a charismatic ball of intensity. This is a band that to my ears sound like no other, combining message-laden lyrics with the raw energy of the music that alone they could never possibly make. Together however they possess a chemistry best seen in a live setting, they may combine the ideas of many great bands, but if they are going to make it. It's going to be on their terms in their own way.
Tripwires, A.W.O.L and Silhouettes recorded at Ginger Studios in Harlow featured on this website showcase Talk Show Hosts at their finest......enjoy.
Things are only just beginning but you ain't seen nothing yet..." - A Fan.
